Rat Control

Rat inspection, trapping, exclusion, and ongoing management for homes, businesses, and managed properties across Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties.

Rats may enter homes and businesses through gaps around roofs, vents, utility lines, foundations, and other vulnerable areas. Droppings, gnawing, noises, or food disturbance can point to activity, but the source is not always obvious. Cragoe inspects for signs, entry points, and contributing conditions before recommending a plan.

What to look for

Common signs include droppings, gnaw marks, rub marks, damaged food packaging, nesting material, and scratching or movement sounds in walls, ceilings, attics, or crawlspaces. Outdoor burrows or travel paths may also be present. An inspection helps identify where rats are active and how they may be entering.

Why it matters

Rats can contaminate stored food and surfaces, damage insulation and other materials, and gnaw wiring, wood, and plastic. They may travel between outdoor harborage and structures while remaining hidden for long periods. A visible rat can be only one part of a larger access or sanitation problem.

How Cragoe helps

A Cragoe technician inspects the structure and surrounding property for activity, entry points, and conditions that support rats. Recommendations may include trapping, exterior management, exclusion, sanitation changes, or monitoring, depending on the findings. We explain the proposed plan and any follow-up before work begins.

Prevention and monitoring

Seal accessible gaps where practical, keep food and pet food in secure containers, repair leaks, manage waste, and reduce clutter or dense vegetation near structures. Trim branches that provide roof access when appropriate. Continue watching for fresh droppings, gnawing, or noises after service.

Southern California conditions

Mild weather, mature landscaping, rooflines, alleys, fruit, pet food, irrigation, and nearby open space can support rat activity around local properties. Roof rats and other rodents may travel between outdoor harborage and structures without being seen. Cragoe evaluates the building exterior, likely routes, and indoor evidence together.
