Ant Control

Have you ever stepped into your kitchen, only to be stopped in your tracks by the sight of a line of ants walking across your counter? It’s a visual that can send shivers down most people’s spines.

Ants are not only a nuisance, they can also contaminate your food and, in some cases, even cause painful bites for your family and pets. If left unchecked, ant colonies can expand, and quickly! There are some queens who can give birth to MILLIONS of new ants over the course of a summer. So you can go from having just a few ants in your kitchen to having a major ant infestation in a matter of weeks!

Ant Prevention

Depending on the size of your ant problem there may be some steps you can take to stop a major infestation from happening.

Ants love wet earth because it makes it easier for them to dig their tunnels. If you have any standing water issues near your home, those should be taken care of ASAP.

Ants are also very fond of creating colonies in piles of wood. Make sure any firewood or building materials are stacked away from your home. In addition, it’s always a good idea to trim back any shrubs or tree branches that touch the exterior of your home. Ants are notorious for using these as a bridge.

Ants are also great at sneaking into your house through small cracks in your foundation, so inspect your home and make sure all cracks are sealed.

And finally, ants are sugar addicts! Make sure all of the sweet foods in your home are stored in airtight containers, and be sure to always wipe counters and sweep floors, removing any food debris.
